The Rugby program at Loyola was founded in 2000 and began competing during the spring of 2001. The sport was officially sanctioned by the MIAA in 2006. The MIAA was the first high school athletic conference to sponsor rugby as a varsity sport in the United States. In the 12 years the sport has been sponsored by the MIAA, our varsity squad has made it to the MIAA championship match eight times and won it an astounding seven times. Nearly eighty boys participate in the program each year and many Dons go on to compete at the collegiate level, including Greyson Boozer ’14 (University of Maryland), Brady Frantz ’13 (UMBC), Kevin McKeown ’11 (Clemson University), Brad Randall ’12 (Virginia Tech), Kris Wilson ’10 (West Virginia), and Trey Thomas '16 (Wheeling Jesuit University) to name a few.
