Performing our Jesuit Mission

The Ignatian Mission and Identity Team is charged with accompanying all members of Loyola Blakefield community in their ever-evolving faith journey. We provide differentiated programing that assist in animating the mission of Loyola Blakefield, the Society of Jesus, and the Catholic Church to serve the formational needs of our students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and of the school. Our programs provide experiences that illuminate what it means to be part of a Jesuit School through acts of faith, service, and justice. These offerings challenge our community to grow in their relationship with God and translate their faith into the service of others.

The Ignatian Mission & Identity Team encompasses of the offices of Ignatian Mission & Identity, Campus Ministry, Ignatian Service, and Diversity & Inclusion.

Bio
Mr. Bowers '78 graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a degree in Communications and minor in Education in 1982. After many years in the corporate world, he returned to his roots at Loyola in 2004 and became the Director of Diversity & Inclusion and Assistant Football Coach, where he is consistently engaged in the lives of the students of diversity and serves as a successful role model for the entire student body.

Mrs. Beth Ann Szczepaniak

Bio
Mrs. Szczepaniak graduated from the University of Dayton with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology. Mrs. Szczepaniak came to Baltimore to serve with the Capuchin Franciscan Volunteer Corps. After her year of service, Mrs. Szczepaniak taught Biology, Chesapeake Bay Ecology, and directed the Service Learning Program at Our Lady of Mount Carmel for six years. During that time, she completed a master’s degree in Life Sciences from the University of Maryland. In 2007, Mrs. Szczepaniak came to Loyola Blakefield to teach Biology, Biotechnology/Forensic Science, and Marine Science. In 2013, Mrs. Szczepaniak transitioned to the Director of Ignatian Service. She recently completed a master’s degree in Education in School Counseling from Loyola University Maryland.
