Cyber Science Program Takes Center Stage at the 2024 Cyber Security Hall of Fame Event

On December 5th, the Cyber Security Hall of Fame welcomed its 2024 inductees during a prestigious ceremony at the Maryland Live Event Center. This year’s honorees—renowned pioneers in the cyber field—included Admiral Mike Rogers, Dr. James Roskind, Alan Paller, Robert and Heather Rodriguez, Edna Conway, and Dr. Paul Nielsen. Each inductee has played a pivotal role in shaping the global landscape of computer science and cybersecurity.

Since its founding in 2012, the Cyber Security Hall of Fame has celebrated the trailblazers whose work protects critical systems and transforms the way we live and work. Among the event's distinguished attendees was Steve Morrill, a longtime supporter and attendee of the Hall of Fame event.

This year, Loyola Blakefield’s Cyber Science program proudly served as the event’s charitable partner. A team of students, along with program director and founder, Steve Morrill, attended the dinner and awards ceremony, where they were celebrated as vital contributors to the development of the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

In his opening remarks, Steve Morrill highlighted the extraordinary achievements of Loyola’s cyber program over the past 12 years. Addressing a room of 300 leading cyber professionals, Morrill expressed confidence that the students in attendance would one day join the ranks of the Cyber Security Hall of Fame.

Morrill also spotlighted the upcoming 2025 edition of LBC², Loyola’s innovative, student-led Capture the Flag (CTF) competition. He encouraged attendees to get involved, emphasizing the competition’s role in sparking youth interest in cybersecurity and building a pipeline of future talent.

Loyola students had the unique opportunity to meet with this year’s inductees—heroes who inspired their passion for cybersecurity. “It’s not every day you get to shake hands with Cyber legends,” said Morrill, underscoring the evening's profound impact.

The event was more than a celebration—it was a testament to Loyola’s mission and its place as the world’s leading youth cyber program. “We are incredibly grateful for the Cyber Security Hall of Fame’s partnership, generosity, and trust in us to develop premier cyber talent,” said Morrill. “Their slogan, ‘Respect the Past, Protect the Future,’ is a guiding principle for us at. Knowing that that young men we mentor and educate are in positions of trust protecting critical systems worldwide allows us all to sleep better at night.”

This incredible partnership further cements Loyola Cyber Science program as the global leader in cybersecurity education, and the future has never looked brighter for its students.
