Meet Jeremiah

FEATURING:

Jeremiah Spann '24
"I like helping and having the opportunity to make someone else’s day."

Jeremiah credits his Don for a Day visit as the reason he came to Loyola because in his words, “it had the best vibe.” He’s even remained friends with some of the guys he connected with that day almost five years ago.  Jeremiah describes Loyola as a welcoming community where, “the brotherhood really goes deep.”

Throughout his four years at Loyola, Jeremiah has been an integral part of the Don community. He earned a varsity letter in track, participated in the Business Club’s Market Watch program, and served as an officer for the Black Student Union. Jeremiah also thoroughly enjoyed his role as a Kairos retreat leader for both 7th graders and Freshmen because, “I like helping and having the opportunity to make someone else’s day.” He likewise loves passing along his 3rd degree black belt karate skills to young campers, and never misses an opportunity to dole out his famous snickerdoodle cookies.

This zest for service is no doubt one of the reasons Jeremiah was hand-picked to be a Fischer mentor. He recalls assisting teachers with papers, helping students with math, and then playing dodgeball and ping pong in the afternoon with the campers. “I was being that big brother for the younger kids.” He also enjoyed hosting kids on campus and giving them the opportunity to experience everything Loyola has to offer.

Jeremiah says when June 2nd comes and goes, “I will miss my teachers the most and my art classes.” He hopes to be remembered as a giving person always willing to offer a helping hand. Jeremiah will attend Hampden University in the fall, where he plans on majoring in marketing. Congratulations, Jeremiah!
