Wes Unseld Jr. '93 Named Head Coach of Washington Wizards
Wes Unseld Jr. '93 has agreed to a four-year contract to be the next head coach of the Washington Wizards. He spent the past six seasons with the Denver Nuggets. Unseld Jr. was raised in the Wizards organization, working for 14 years in scouting and coaching roles before moving on to become one of the league's rising star assistant coaches. Unseld Jr. watched his father, Wes Unseld Sr., lead the Washington Bullets to the NBA title in 1978 and then transition from a 14-year playing career into coaching and front office roles with the team. After graduating from Johns Hopkins University in 1997 where he played for the Blue Jays, Unseld Jr. decided to go to work for his father, who was serving as general manager of the Wizards at the time.
