Loyola Names New Director of Admissions & Enrollment Management
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Stephen Abrams as Director of Admissions & Enrollment Management, effective July 1, 2021. Abrams currently serves as Loyola’s Associate Director of Admissions. His new role comes as Mr. John Feeley ’76 transitions from leading our enrollment efforts to resuming his career as a classroom educator in the English Department. We’d like to recognize John’s leadership and enthusiasm as he guided our recruitment and admissions strategies since 2012.
Abrams joined the Loyola Blakefield community in 2018. In addition to his duties in the Admissions Office, he also serves as Associate Head Lacrosse Coach. As an active member of the school’s Enrollment Management Committee, he has played a critical role in shaping financial aid strategies, launched a new Student Ambassador Program, and has helped re-shape the admissions process toward a more intentional and intimate customer experience.
Prior to joining Loyola, Abrams served as Dean of Student Advancement at Baltimore Collegiate School for Boys and as Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at Greenspring Montessori School. A graduate of McDonogh School, he also spent three years there as Admissions Associate and Middle School Social Studies Teacher. He is also an active member of the regional lacrosse community and previously served as President and Board Member of the Charm City Youth Lacrosse League.
President Anthony Day enthusiastically endorsed Abrams’ commitment to serving as a valuable resource for families and his ability to help connect them to Loyola’s mission. “Stephen is an outstanding ambassador who not only articulates the value of the educational experience we offer, but also demonstrates it in his interactions with families and through his coaching of our student-athletes,” said Day. “We are thrilled to see him grow into this new role and eager to witness his many successes.”
Upon reflecting on his work in private school enrollment, Abrams highlighted the importance of a total support system as key to the success of every student. “It is no secret that a young man’s education is one of the foundational pieces to their future of prolonged success, health, and happiness,” said Abrams. “The beauty of education, however, is that it can manifest itself in the classroom, in the auditorium, on the athletic fields, and through the numerous niche activities. As such, the navigation towards success and personal growth can be a daunting adventure if not fully supported by a child’s parents, teachers, and coaches.”
Abrams looks forward to the new challenges and opportunities that his role will offer. “The opportunity to lead Loyola’s enrollment efforts and be at the forefront of helping children gain access to the impactful opportunities Loyola offers is nothing short of a blessing and an honor,” said Abrams. “I would be remiss if I didn’t thank John Feeley for his guidance and support while welcoming me into the Loyola family and making me feel like a Don from the very beginning.”
