Applying for Aid

Loyola Blakefield uses Facts Grant and Aid Assessment (FACTS) to manage the financial aid process. FACTS helps Loyola assess a family’s ability to pay school costs and make objective and fair financial aid decisions. Based on the results of the financial aid application, FACTS estimates the amount a family can contribute to tuition and fees. Loyola uses this estimate, as well as the school’s budget and financial aid policies, as a starting point for financial aid awards.

Financial Aid applications for the 2025–2026 school year are due by January 2, 2025. Financial Aid Awards are communicated with admissions decisions in February. Please visit the FACTS website to begin your application. The FACTS Financial Aid application will open on October 15th.

Will applying for financial aid affect my acceptance?

No. The financial aid award process is independent of the admissions review and acceptance process.
Do I need to complete a separate application for each child?

No. Only one application needs to be completed. List each child applying for aid as a separate applicant.
If I am divorced, who fills out the financial aid application?

Each parent is required to fill out his or her own financial aid application. If a parent is remarried, the application should include financial information of the new spouse. If this is incomplete, Loyola reserves the right to give a lesser award or no award.
Is there a cost to submit a financial aid application?

Yes. A $34 fee is required in order to submit the financial aid application.
Do I need to apply for financial aid each year?

Yes. Families receiving need-based aid must submit a new application and update their tax information each year.
I can't upload my tax documents. What should I do?

Please call FACTS at 866-441-4637 for assistance, or tax returns can be faxed to FACTS at 866-315-9264.
If my application is not complete by January 2, will we still receive financial aid?

Families may submit an application after January 2, however, preference is given to those families submitting by the deadline.
Is there an income cut-off for financial aid?

No. Income is the primary factor used to determine need-based aid; however, other factors are also taken into account including household size, the number of dependents in tuition-paying schools, and net worth.
Does Loyola Blakefield fund my entire financial need?

Loyola Blakefield’s financial aid philosophy is to balance the funding of a family’s unmet need with an equitable distribution of available aid among applying families. Therefore, Loyola is not always able to fund the entirety of a family’s financial need.

CURRENT SCHOLARSHIP OFFERINGS

Need-Based Scholarships

Need-Based Scholarships are awarded to families with demonstrated financial need as determined by Loyola’s Financial Aid Committee. The starting point for the committee’s aid award is a family’s completed financial aid application. A recipient is required to maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.

Sheridan Scholars Award

The Sheridan Scholars Award is awarded to students entering the 9^th grade who manifest outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and involvement in co-curricular activities. No application is necessary. Our admissions committee identifies potential recipients based on their admissions profile and those that exhibit strong leadership qualities. A recipient is required to maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA and participate in all leadership programming offered through the program.

Co-Curricular Scholarships

Athletic & Co-Curricular Scholarships are primarily awarded to students entering the 9th grade and are based on academics, citizenship, and talent. No application is necessary. Our program directors, activity moderators, and coaches work in conjunction with our Admissions Department and Principals to identify and nominate potential students that match the criteria of the award. A recipient is required to maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and active participation in the associated program area.

Military & First Responders Scholarships

We offer scholarships for sons of Active Duty Military, Active Duty Police Officers, and Career Firefighters/EMTs. The scholarships are awarded to incoming 9^th grade students at the amount of $5,000. The scholarship award is committed to the student for each of his four years at Loyola.

Archdiocese Teacher Scholarship

We are pleased to offer scholarships to sons of full-time teachers employed by an Archdiocese of Baltimore elementary or middle school. The scholarship award is offered to incoming 9^th grade students only and is applied to each of his four years at Loyola. The amount of the scholarship award is $5,000 annually.

HBCU Employee & Graduate Scholarship

Recognizing that a diverse student body promotes cultural engagement as well as important academic skills, this $5,000 scholarship award is available to any incoming 9^th grade student whose parent has graduated from or is actively employed by a Historically Black College or University for each of the student's four years at Loyola.

O’Neil Dramatics Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to attract the best and brightest to our dramatics program. Awarded to an incoming 9^th grade student who shows potential for excellence in the dramatic arts, the scholarship amount is $1,000 for each year of high school that the student maintains good academic standing and involvement in the arts.

Performing Arts Scholarship in Music

The Performing Arts Scholarship in Music is a scholarship that is designed to attract the best and brightest to our music program (band and chorus). A limited number of these scholarships will be awarded to incoming 9th grade students who show potential for excellence in the musical arts. The scholarship amount is $2,500 for each year of high school that the student maintains good academic standing and involvement in the arts.
