Mason Ellison '25 Breaks Basketball All-Time Scoring Record

Congratulations to senior Mason Ellison, the new all-time leading scorer in Loyola Blakefield basketball history!

On January 18th, Ellison shattered the school's 47-year-old all-time scoring record in basketball. The historic achievement took place during an electrifying weekend tournament game against Bethel Prep (VA) where Ellison scored 19 total points and cemented his place in the record books.

The original record of 1,499 career points set by Tony Guy ’78 stood unchallenged for nearly 50 years, a testament to his incredible talent and refined skill. Renowned for his many contributions to Loyola Blakefield’s basketball program, Guy was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002, having left an indelible mark on Loyola's athletic history.

But Ellison's relentless work ethic, leadership, and scoring prowess have propelled him to new heights past the hoop, culminating in this extraordinary milestone.

“Mason has been a gift to the Varsity Basketball Dons, and it’s been an honor to coach him these last two seasons,” says Coach Josh Czerski.

Known for his versatility on the court, Ellison has consistently demonstrated his ability to dominate games with a mix of perimeter shooting, explosive drives, and standout performances. His commitment to the game is matched only by his dedication to his teammates and the Loyola Blakefield community.

A Delaware-commit, Ellison has a few games left to push his record even further, leaving a slam dunk legacy that will inspire future generations of Dons.
