We are excited to announce that Michael Marchiano has been named Loyola’s new Head Varsity Soccer Coach. As he takes the reigns of a program that annually contends for the MIAA A conference title, Marchiano brings a wealth of coaching and playing experience to the role.

As a collegiate athlete, he was part of two NCAA National Champion men’s teams at University of Maryland, College Park. He also served as team captain for the Terps from 2006-2008. His playing career extended to time spent with the Real Maryland Monarchs of the United Soccer League. “We are excited that Mike Marchiano has agreed to be the next head varsity soccer coach at Loyola Blakefield,” said Blake Henry ’98, Director of Athletics. “Coach Marchiano is passionate about working with young men to become the best version of themselves and we are looking forward to him bringing that passion to our program.”
His coaching experience includes serving as an assistant at University of Maryland, West Point, and six seasons at Loyola University Maryland. Most recently, he has served as the head men’s coach at Drexel University. During his three seasons leading the Dragons, he led them to their first coastal Athletics Association (CAA) tournament in seven years and guided the team to the semifinals in all three seasons. Over the course of his tenure, his team compiled a 21-16-9 record making him only the third coach in program history to maintain a winning record.
"I am excited to become the new head coach for Loyola soccer,” said Marchiano. “My family and I are looking forward to meeting everyone in the Blakefield community. Loyola is a special institution and I have missed being a part of soccer in the Baltimore area. Loyola Blakefield soccer will be driven to attract and develop high-level student-athletes, as we know the MIAA is one of the best high school conferences in the country. We'll give everything to ensure that we build on the strong foundations at Loyola while pursuing future MIAA championships."
Marchiano is a native of Bel Air and graduated from Maryland in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. Currently residing in Lutherville, he and his wife, Kelley, have a daughter, Mila, and a son, Nico.
Loyola Blakefield Athletics fulfills the mission, vision, and values of our school by forming leaders that serve with and for others, developing the mind, body, and spirit of our student-athletes, and building programs that foster a culture of champions—all for the greater glory of God.
