Meet Charlie

"To see that [student engagement] materialize was the most rewarding."

Charlie admits that he began his journey to Loyola for one simple reason: he was a legacy. However, once he stepped onto campus it didn’t take long for him to connect with a core group of friends and become an active member of the community. He joined the American Politics Club, Speech and Debate, and participated in the Teach-In, among other numerous activities.

Charlie was also the Chairman for the Justice Summit Committee held this past April where he worked with the school leadership members and developed the theme of their event (Walking with the Excluded) into something the attendees thoroughly enjoyed. “In order to get a high degree of student engagement, we had to seek out speakers at the Teach-In in DC and bring them to Loyola.” He was instrumental in this process and, in his words, “to see that materialize was the most rewarding.” He went on to say, “it really goes back to cura personalis [care for the whole person] and our teachers propped me up and allowed me to show my skills.”

As a result of these activities and roles mentioned Charlie was named to Baltimore Magazine/Junior Achievement's 18 Under 18 list. When asked what being a Don means to Charlie, he replied in a word: "care". We wish Charlie much success and happiness at Loyola University!
