Loyola Blakefield Holds Inaugural Certificate Program Pinning Ceremony

The first Loyola Blakefield Certificate Program Pinning Ceremony was held last Thursday to recognize those students who have committed to complete one of Loyola’s five newly established Certificate Programs.

Each program focuses on a particular area of curricular emphasis—Expression & Creativity, Cyber & Informatics, Global-mindedness, Equity, & Inclusion, Integral Ecology, and Service & Justice. Students are required to complete 3.5 credits of coursework pertaining to the area, participate in relevant co-curricular or extracurricular activities for two years, and complete a capstone project to demonstrate their understandings. Each of the five programs is led by a Certificate Program Coordinator—Dr. Richard Skirpan, Ms. Michelle Roberts, Ms. Bethany Gentry, Mr. Brendan O’Kane, and Ms. Selma Ciccarone, respectively.

This year, Loyola pinned 65 students from our sophomore and junior classes. We are excited by their enthusiasm as they cater their Loyola Blakefield experience toward their passions.
