About Loyola Blakefield

Campus Use Policy

Dear Neighbors and Campus Visitors:

I want to express my sincere appreciation to those of you who visit our campus and express gratitude for the open green space and sense of “refuge” that our grounds provide for our students and the broader neighborhood community. Surely those of us who live on campus experience the same. We look forward to continuing our “neighborly relationship” with each of you.

From time to time, however, there have been occurrences which have caused concern. Some visitors have chosen to ignore the rules of common courtesy appropriate to guests. Some have repeatedly ignored directives from Security or other Staff. Also, our students and coaches continue to complain about their encounters with animal excrement on the playing fields and other green spaces on campus.

Because of our concern for the health and safety of our students, and in our efforts to maintain the beauty and care of our campus, I am asking that all visitors join us in observing the following:

  1. Loyola Blakefield is a private institution; please remember that use of the campus is a courtesy and privilege that can only be extended to good neighbors.
  2. For the safety and security of all, Loyola has increased its campus security force and extended hours of oversight to 24/7. All campus visitors are expected to abide by directives both of security and of school personnel.
  3. Posted signs and directives are to be observed at all times, especially with regard to parking. Violators on campus are subject to towing and off street violators will be ticketed by police. Chestnut Avenue must be kept open for emergency vehicle access to Loyola and the other institutions in the immediate vicinity.
  4. Pursuant to Bill #28, Baltimore County Code, Section 3-301. All dogs must always be leashed. If an electronic collar is in use, please restrict the dog to within a few feet of yourself. It is your responsibility to clean up after your dog. Droppings must be picked up and properly disposed of (taken off the property) by dog owners. This is a serious public health issue and will be dealt with in that manner.
  5. With the exception of those attending scheduled school events, the campus is closed to visitors from dusk to dawn daily.
  6. Young children must be accompanied by supervising adults. Rollerblading or skateboarding is never permitted.
  7. There is no smoking in any campus building or in the vicinity of athletic fields.
  8. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Those attending games should be sure to dispose of all food and beverage in containers before leaving.

Those unwilling, or unable, to comply with these directives will necessarily lose the privilege of access to our campus and be considered to be trespassing if they return. Regrettably, any such incidents will be handled by Security with the assistance of the Baltimore County police department.

Please know that Loyola values its relationship with its neighbors. Loyola believes that its efforts to maintain its campus add to the value and beauty of this community – a commitment that I take seriously. I am hopeful that I can rely on your understanding and assistance in this endeavor.
