Welcome to Loyola Blakefield, a Jesuit school since 1852. Thank you for visiting our newly enhance website. It is a pleasure to introduce you to the life and vitality which makes our school community a source of pride for over 150 years.
Our new site provides access to all aspects of life at Blakefield. Whether you are a student, alumnus, parent, grandparent, prospective family, or anyone simply interested in learning more about Loyola, you’ll find a wealth of information, accompanied by fantastic images that portray our proud past, current accomplishments and emerging future.
Loyola Blakefield is part of a network of 52 other Jesuit high schools in the United States, seeking to educate young men-for-others, tomorrow’s leaders. As a Jesuit school, Loyola Blakefield is also an integral part of a world-wide network of similar institutions. Each school traces its roots back through a 450 year legacy of educational excellence that dates back to the first school founded by St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), at Messina, Italy, in the year 1548.

Rev. Thomas A. Pesci, S.J.
President
Rev. Thomas A. Pesci, S.J., joined the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus in 1968. He is a graduate of St. Joseph’s Preparatory School, Philadelphia, PA. In 1973 he earned his B.A. in Humanities from Fordham University, Bronx, NY, prior to completing an M.A. in English at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Father taught for two years at St. Joseph’s Prep before undertaking theological studies in Cambridge, MA. He was ordained in 1979. More recently he received a Professional Diploma in Education from Fordham University in 1993.
Father Pesci has enjoyed a broad range of ministries within the Society of Jesus over the years which have included: hospital chaplain at Georgetown University; English and Latin teacher; at Loyola-Blakefield in Towson, MD; Director of Development in Scranton, PA. He was installed as the fifteenth president of Rockhurst High School in July of 1993 and served there until 2004. Most recently he served as “Administrator Reflector-in-Residence” for the Jesuit Secondary Education Association (JSEA) located in Washington, DC. He has served on a number of Boards of Trustees, including: Rockhurst University, Notre Dame DeSion School, Creighton Preparatory School, Georgetown Preparatory School, St. Joseph’s Preparatory School and Boy’s Hope. His interests include: literature, film, travel, railroading, cycling, swimming, hand crafts, and “dining with good friends.”
