The Loyola Middle School Swim team is coached by Mr. Tim Pierce and is assisted by Mr. Raymond Brown. Mr. Pierce brings over 38 years or coaching experience and expertise to the swimming program. Mr. Raymond Brown was a very accomplished swimmer for Loyola Blakefield in the 80's and went on to compete and star for the University of Virginia. The goal of middle school swimming is to be competitive and to help prepare the young DONS for high school and year round swimming. Middle School Swim Practice is daily after school for approximately and hour.
Loyola has both a Junior Varsity and a Varsity Team. The Team is coached by Mr. Keith Schertle and is assisted by Mr. Tim Pierce, Mr. Brad Schertle. Mrs. Lisa Lagator will be working with our divers. Historically the team has been ranked in the top 25 in the nation for the NISCA Dual Meet Rankings and boasts many All-American Swimmers.The team has won the MIAA 18 years in a row, it has won the Natioanl Catholic Swimming Championships 5x and the last three years in a row and is one of the premier high school swim programs in the country. An early season test will be a Tri-Meet vrs. Georgetown Prep and Gonzaga College High School on November 19.
The J.V. and Varsity Team practice and compete together. A Final Varsity Roster will not occur until Eastern Interscholastic Swimming Championships on Feb. 26th. The teams practice daily after school and have a number of am workouts per week before school.
Yearly many of our swimmers move on to compete in college which is one of the things we are msot proud of. We take great pride in preparing our athletes for the next level of competition.
