Admissions

The Admissions Process

To apply to Loyola Blakefield’s Upper and Middle Schools, it is important to take note of key dates and deadlines. The steps in applying for entrance into Loyola are as follows:

Make an Inquiry: Please visit our website at www.loyolablakefield.org or call our office at 443-841-3680.

Obtain a Loyola Application Form: The Application for Admission to Loyola Blakefield is available in hardcopy, in addition to a downloadable version. A check for $35 must be submitted with the application. The student essay must be attached to the application. The application deadline is December 15, 2010.

Submit a “Request for Records” Form: Loyola’s “Request for Records” form accompanies our admissions materials and is available online. This form must be signed by the parent and submitted to the applicant’s current school principal or counselor. AFTER the first marking period, 9th grade applicants from an archdiocesan school are not required to use this form. Applicants from an AIMS school may use the AIMS Common Referral Form.

Attend our Open House: October 31, 2010, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All members of the family are welcome!

Schedule a Shadow Day: An important and necessary component in the admissions process, a visit to our campus can be arranged by calling the Admissions Office at 443-841-3680, or 443-841-3682. We welcome students any day we are conducting classes-as-usual, from the last week of September through the middle of December. Student Interviews will occur during the Shadow Day visit. Parent Interviews are not required.

9th Grade Entrance Exam: The High School Placement Test (HSPT): December 11, 2010, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in Burk Hall. No pre-registration is necessary. Applicants are asked to take the HSPT at their first choice schools. There is a $30 cash fee (no checks please) collected on the morning of the test. Results of the test are mailed to parents by STS.

Sixth Grade Entrance Exam: The Independent Schools Entrance Exam (ISEE): January 15, 2011, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in Burk Hall.

*Admission testing for seventh, eighth, tenth, and eleventh grade transfers is not usually necessary. Decisions are made for those grades on a rolling timetable as spaces become available. Placement testing for sixth and ninth grade students will take place in the spring as needed.
